Casanova Street
Casanova Street is an original street in Solano Canyon, dating from Alfredo Solano's 1888 survey of the Solano Tract. In contrast to Solano Avenue, however — the other original street, which is 60 feet wide — the width of Casanova Street is half that, at only 30 feet.
Casanova Street was created on May 2, 1888, and was described as running "NW of Buena Vista Street." When Solano Tract No. 2 was developed in 1903, Casanova Street was extended, running from "Park Row to Yuba St." That portion was re-named Academy Road on March 19, 1962 (or Year 4 DE — 'Dodger Era').
Casanova Street is much higher in elevation that Solano Avenue, and it provides some spectacular views of the surrounding hills. This is a view of la Loma, looking over the current Solano Avenue Elementary School, circa 1930.
